About Stanley
A
certified specialist in bankruptcy and insolvency law, Stanley
J. Kershman is the head of the bankruptcy and restructuring
department of the law firm of Perley-Robertson, Hill & McDougall LLP, in Ottawa, Canada. He is also a court mediator
who has conducted more than 300 mediations.
Stanley has more than 25 years experience in bankruptcy and
insolvency law. He has written and lectured extensively on
bankruptcy, insolvency and mediation for Industry Canada,
the Superior Court of Justice and the Law Society of Upper
Canada.
A former director of the Canadian Bar Association's Bankruptcy
and Insolvency Section, Stanley is asked regularly to provide
expert advice in print, radio and television media. He writes
a weekly e-newsletter for Quicklaw that updates the latest bankruptcy and insolvency
case law and has written a family finance column for the Ottawa
Citizen. Through this website he provides comprehensive background information
on credit, bankruptcy and mediation issues.
Stanley is a member of the National Association of Bankruptcy
Trustees (NABT) and in Canada he is a Deputy Judge of the
Superior Court of Justice (Small Claims Court), and a member
of the Canadian Bar Association and the County of Carleton
Law Association.
Stanley's book "Credit Solutions - Kershman on Advising Secured and Unsecured Creditors,"
published by Carswell Thomson Professional Publishing in late 2001
and now in its second printing, was nominated for a National
Business Book Award in Canada.
